July 6: Tierpark Brüggen (playground!) and barbecue with Höfer's

Wednesday was our last day in Overhetfeld. We decided to go back to the fantastic playground at the  Brüggen Tierpark (zoo) that the boys enjoyed so much last trip (5 years ago). Interestingly, they enjoyed it just about as much now as they did then!

We walked around and saw the animals, too, which was fun. There were more animals than I expected for such a small town park.

After that we were hungry, so we stopped at the Turkish Döner place again. Those döner are really delicious!

Then, we had to pick Charlotte up from the train station in Mönchengladbach. We decided to do a little more shopping before her train arrived. Ben found the shirt he had wanted at H&M that was not available in his size at 3 other H&M stores.

In the evening, we had been invited to a barbecue supper at my friend Dieter's house. For once, the weather was lovely and they had a beautiful back yard to host the evening. They had many salads and cheeses and breads and of course piles of yummy wurst and other meats! We had a really nice time there and were so grateful for their hospitality.

The kids all enjoyed playing with their dog, Anton. He was a very well behaved dog and seemed to enjoy all of the attention!

They even let us stay and watch the semi-final game of the Euro 2016, Portugal vs. Wales. It was one of the most boring games ever, but in the end, Portugal prevailed.

it was really a wonderful way to spend our last evening in Germany! Thank you, Dieter, Jutta, and Marie! We hope you come see us in he USA next time!!
