After driving a couple of hours to Charlotte's house, we arrived around 4 pm. We reacquainted with her cat, Felix, and looked at the lovely back yard.
The color of Ben's shirt looked so nice with the beautiful Hydreangeas (Hortensien in German). The German flower gardens are so nice!
The weather was actually quite decent, so we decided to walk down to the Rhein river. Charlotte explained that due to so much rain, the river level is quite high currently and several access points were actually inaccessible. We walked along a little path where some goats were grazing. Unfortunately, Ben tripped while racing down the steps to the shore and skinned his knee. I cleaned him up as best I could with Kleenex and a few band-aids, and his pride was probably hurt more than anything.

On our way back ,we walked through the old town of Zons. There is a cool castle, a city wall with a windmill, and more. The boys are so comfortable with Charlotte, it is always nice to see them together again.
The "Gasthof Zur Post" is the bar that is owned by Charlotte's maternal grandparents. Looks like a really nice place. We also stopped in and visited her grandma briefly, since she lives in the neighborhood. She is a very sweet lady, offered us soda and waffles. Then we went out to a nice Italian restaurant in the next town over for supper and also had ice cream afterwards.
In the evening we stayed home and watched the quarter final game, Wales vs. Belgium. It has been fun being here in Germany for the Euro 2016. The Germans certainly take their soccer more seriously than the USA!
