July 4 and 5: Back to Overhetfeld

Monday was really just a transition day. We spent most of the morning planning our Barcelona trip. There were vouchers and reservation confirmations and boarding passes, etc. that needed to be printed, so we took advantage of having access to Maria's printer to do all that. We reserved several excursions, but you will find out about those later! :)
We left Charlotte's in the early afternoon and got back to Overhetfeld quickly (less than an hour), We stopped for a few groceries at the local Aldi and ran into my Dad there! It was pretty funny.
At my Dad's we did some re-packing, more trip planning. I actually caught up on some of my work related emails, notes, etc. Ben and I went on a decent run from the house down to the Venkotensee and around it! Daryl and Alex accompanied us on bikes. After about 25-30 minutes, we had jogged long enough and walked the rest of the way home. The boys helped Opa mow the lawn and I spent a long time cleaning the kitchen. This is a big house to maintain, so we thought we'd help out a bit.
I did not take a single photo on Monday, which goes to show how uneventful it was!!

Today, Tuesday, was similar. We went out for breakfast, which was nice. Then we did laundry, hung out at the house and watched the rain stop and start most of the day. We did a few more maintenance type things around the house. Between showers we did walk down the road to the local playground, where there is a zip-line. We all had fun seeing who could make it the farthest back after reaching the end and bouncing back.

In the evening we met my Dad's friend, Gill, in Erkelenz where she lives and ate out at an Italian restaurant. The food was good and we talked a lot about Barcelona, since Gill had been there earlier this year as well as on other occasions in the past. She gave us some tips and hints and even let us borrow a tourist guide book to review before we leave. Thanks Gill!

Out in the town while walking back to our car, we discovered this play thing to balance on with balls in a circular track spinning inside. The boys had fun trying it out.
